Hello everyone, today I will introduce a super-rated audio transcription tool to you. The reason for writing this article is that after trying it myself, I think it is very suitable for many entrepreneurs and freelancers. I really think this tool is so easy to use, so I share it with you. If you have needs, please click the purchase link of the article, so that I will get the corresponding commission. Thanks!

Next, I will introduce this audio transcription tool in detail. The article is mainly divided into two parts, please take a seat when you read it. The first part is for those who need audio transcription. This awareness is that you have audio that needs to be transcribed. The second part is for people with audio transcription skills, and you will get an opportunity to do freelance work.

Part One: How to use Rev.com

On Rev.com, purchasing services is a quick and easy process. Next I will walk you through how to buy audio transcription services online. Finally, we’ll show you how to pay with a credit card or PayPal.

Begin by pointing your browser to the rev.com service page.

You’ll see that there are two basic options for sending us the text of an online order: upload a file or paste a URL.

Choose what you want to transcribe
Let’s say you want to upload files to an online order. After clicking the “Upload Files” button, we’ll ask you to select one or more media files. In the example below, a customer adds a meeting recording to their online order. Select your file and click Open. Note that you can select multiple files by holding down the CTRL key on a Windows PC or the Command key on a Mac.

If your content is live (for example, you want to transcribe a YouTube video), click the Paste URL button. Then paste the URL of the content into the dialog as shown below. You can submit multiple items for transcription by pressing Enter after the URL to move the cursor to a new line. Then go ahead and paste your extra URL.

When you’re done, click the “Add” button and your online order is ready to begin.

Customize your order
After confirming your transcriptions, you will see the Order Transcripts page. Here you can make changes to your order and select transcript service for electronic delivery. You will also see your credit card or PayPal total.

First, let’s look at how to customize your transcript online order. Note that the “Upload more files” and “Paste more URLs” buttons reappear at the top of the page. These provide an easy way to select new files and add them to the queue. Need to delete one or more files? Click the blue Delete icon. You will delete the item and your price will be adjusted.

You can also choose from a range of transcription services. Let’s take a quick look at what these transcription services offer.

1. Expedite my order
Transcript Professionals will begin your electronic delivery effort immediately. For about 60 minutes of standard audio, you can order online in 5 hours or less.

2. Timestamp
Timestamped transcripts contain time data at the beginning of each paragraph. Additionally, we will sync your transcript to your audio. When a reader clicks on a word in the transcript online, playback switches to that point in the audio file.

3. Verbatim records
Verbatim includes nonverbal communication, such as laughter or pauses. It also preserves filler words (“um”, “ah”, etc.). A verbatim recording service provides a nuanced written reproduction of an oral communication.

4. Instant draft
Instant First Draft uses artificial intelligence to deliver transcripts in minutes. These transcriptions lack the accuracy and structural clarity of manually transcribed audio. But if all you need is basic paperwork, then it’s a cheap and quick option.

We’ll ask you some additional questions about the clarity of the audio clip.

To complete an online order, please make sure your video is clear and easy to understand. The clearer you are, the better your results. After verifying “Yes” to each question, click “Continue” and the website will take you back to the order page.

Happy with your transcription options? The Checkout button will take you to the final payment screen.

complete your purchase
After clicking the “Checkout” button, we will invite you to create an account.

Enter your name, contact details, and provide us with more information about who you are. Then click Next.

We accept payment by credit card or PayPal. Enter your credit card details or PayPal login information. Then click Order Transcripts.

You are done!

Part Two: Freelance Make Money Online With Rev.com

In today’s world, it is well known that earning extra income no longer requires the form of part-time jobs. Instead, you can find freelance work online and earn extra cash with no commitment or even leaving home. This is in line with the current needs of skilled young people.

Next, I’ll cover the second part of this article: Learn how to make money online with the transcription and subtitling service Rev.com.

From 2020 to 2023, I use Rev and managed to amass nearly $3,000 in extra cash. This kind of income is only a small part of my compensation for using Rev.com. The more you work, the more you will earn.

What is Rev?
Rev is an online transcription and subtitling service that connects clients with at-home freelancers.
The best way to earn extra income with Rev is to apply as a freelancer. According to the Rev website, “Aside from the extra weekly payouts via PayPal, the great thing about freelancing with Rev is the flexibility. You can work wherever, whenever and however you want. Everyone, from stay-at-home moms to college students and retirees Working from home with the pastor.”
Rev work requires listening to audio or video files and typing exactly what you hear. It does mean that you need to have a solid knowledge of English and grammar.
If you meet these requirements, then you’ll need a computer (with audio) and a reliable internet connection to get started. Software, style guides, and an online support community are all available in your browser.

How does Rev work?
Clients who need video or audio files transcribed or captioned submit their files to Revers. “Revvers” can then pick up, listen to, add subtitles to, or transcribe and submit these files before receiving payment.
“Revvers” are freelancers who took quizzes, submitted sample projects and were approved to listen and/or watch client documents and type exactly what was said.
In order to make money freelancing at Rev, you’ll need to apply to work as a transcriptionist or subtitler. Even with a waitlist, you can still apply. According to the website, here’s what you can expect from each role:

In order to make money freelancing at Rev, you’ll need to apply to work as a transcriptionist or subtitler. Even with a waitlist, you can still apply. According to the website, here’s what you can expect from each role:
Transcriber:
Listen to audio and video
type exactly what is said
label speaker
Earn $0.30-$1.10 per minute of audio/video
Captain: _ _
watch video
Type exactly what is said and convey sound creatively
Synchronize incoming audio with video
Earn $0.54-$1.10 per minute of audio/video
If you are fluent in a foreign language, you can also sign up for subtitles for $1.70-$4 per minute of audio/video.

First, you need to apply online. Expect to spend at least an hour to complete the application. Once you’ve registered as a freelancer, the next step is to:
You will be asked to take a test to demonstrate your English language and grammar skills.
You will submit a sample of transcription or title, which we will review to ensure it meets our client’s quality expectations.
If you’re approved, you’ll be able to sign up and start making money right away. When I applied to be a subtitler, I was approved the next day.
After registering and logging in, you will be able to view available claimable items in the workspace. After you claim an item, you will have one hour to decide whether you want to “unclaim” the item without penalty. If you complete the project and click submit, you will be able to see the payment for the project immediately in the Earnings tab.
Your work will then be reviewed and graded by a member of the Rev Quality Control team. Regardless of grades, you will receive your PayPal deposit the following Monday.

How much does Rev have to pay?
According to Rev, transcriptionists and subtitlers earn an average of $240-$245 a month, with a peak of $1,495 to $1,570 a month. As a translator, the average monthly income is reported to be $958. In my experience, it is quite possible to earn an average of $400 a month as a transcriptionist/subtitler working around 15 hours a week. I’ve never done a translation for Rev, so I can’t speak to those average earnings.
Depending on the job you’re applying for and the program you’re applying for, you can expect to earn $0.30 to $1.10 per minute of audio/video as a transcriptionist or subtitler for Rev. However, the time required to complete one minute of audio/video will vary based on the difficulty of the project and your typing speed.
When I claim a project, I expect to spend about 3-5 minutes transcribing or adding subtitles for each audio/video minute. This means that if I ask to complete a 5-minute project, I expect to spend a maximum of 20 minutes on it. From my experience, if I’m willing to work two hours on a Rev project, I can expect to make around $16.

You will start as a rookie. Once you complete 60 minutes of work that meets company standards, you will be offered more subtitling jobs.
If you’re able to average 1,200 minutes of subtitles over 120 days, you’ll gain access to Revver+, which means you’ll be able to claim projects before they’re made available to Revvers. You can then apply to Rev’s quality control team and get paid for grading projects that other freelancers have completed.
Your earnings accrue throughout the week (Sunday to Saturday). You are expected to have your PayPal account credited next Monday.

final thoughts
Overall, it is definitely possible to earn extra income by working as a freelance transcriptionist or subtitler at Rev, especially if you are a fast and accurate typist. If you can speak a foreign language, your income as a translator can increase significantly.

You may not learn as much per hour at first compared to a traditional part-time job. But even as a freelancer, you have the potential to grow and earn more per hour as you complete more projects.

If you’re still on the fence about Rev, consider the following pros and cons:

PROS:
home work.
Choose your time.
Get paid based on completed projects (regardless of their earned rank).
Get weekly PayPal deposits.

CONS:
Typing will take more time than the audio/video minutes you paid for.
Some audio files are difficult to hear.
The number of available items changes daily/weekly.
Other freelancers will also try to apply for available projects.

If you have a computer and a reliable internet connection, it never hurts to sign up and work through the sample project to see if it’s something you’re interested in pursuing.

While freelancing at Rev will never be a reliable source of primary income, it’s an honest way to offer quality work in exchange for extra cash without leaving your home.
