For Beginners, Is “Happy Pinyin” worth it? What about struggling readers?
It is an indisputable fact that children need to learn Pinyin. To truly be a good and proficient reader, your child should have a solid grasp of phonics. In short, they must understand the visuals and sounds of letters, as well as the combination of letter combinations.

Hooked on Phonics is a master at this. When I mentioned to my husband that I was putting together this review, he asked everyone in the office to raise their hands if they’d heard of “Hooked on Phonics.” 19 out of 20 raised their hands!

So – you already know that Hooked on Phonics has been a huge success in teaching kids to read. Today, having a long-term brand you know and trust is gold. Hooked on Phonics does exactly that.

As for struggling readers, I have two of my own. Really, with my youngest son, we put too much emphasis on sight words to realize that he “missed” some phonetic learning he really needed.

For the Hooked on Phonics material, he’s a bit old now, but we went back and started supporting him with some remix learning and doing some retrospectives. This is worth it! He was able to go through the course so fast, not knowing that he was giving himself a good rating – something he really needed.

I’m so glad we went through it! He feels more confident now, he can visually see and take pride in his progress as he moves through the story and levels, and he can see the little “rewards” he gets in the app. It makes him feel great!

Get hooked on Phonics Amazon review summary
I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of keen to check out all the reviews I can find on a product before buying. I am picky.

Amazon buyers rate Complete Learn to Read Kit very high (5 stars).

The first comment I read was something like this (and many more), “As a homeschool mom of 4 kids with a dyslexia, I was so pleasantly surprised by how well HOP did!” . She goes on to talk Arrived at her experience with Hooked on Phonics and thought it was a good purchase.

Hooked on Phonics is definitely a great product to lay the foundation for your child’s reading.

My personal review of the Hooked on Phonics APP:

I’ll go into more detail below, but overall I think this little program is beautiful, engaging, and fun, and kids will learn from it.

Getting hooked on Phonics allowed me to try the app in exchange for my fair and honest reviews of their products. I mentioned earlier that I had my youngest son try the app, and even though he’s over the age of the program, he’s also a hard reader, so it’s worth it to go back and practice on something higher.

In the upper left corner of the home screen, there is an area for parents with FAQs, account settings, and more. I found this easy to navigate and helpful. There’s a good section explaining how to use the program, and the basic steps the Hooked on Phonics app is divided into.

Back on the home screen, your child can view their progress by level. They drag their fingers in the circle to view levels, or go to the Reading Show screen.

Once your student passes one level, she can move on to the next level. Each level consists of several different activities to learn letters/sounds/words through each progression.

Your child might watch a video (very cute and creative, well done video!), or they might have to play an activity, drag a letter to make a word, click on a word to read aloud, etc. to pass .

Once your child is done with the activity, they can move on! And the app is easy to use, so if she likes games, songs or videos, she can watch it as many times as she likes.

I mentioned an additional area in the app called “The Big Reading Show”. This is an interesting area, described as a place to “introduce pre-readers to the key skills they need to start Step 1 of Hooked on Phonics”.

It’s full of stories and songs that really give kids the alphabet and letter sounds, so it’s especially useful for pre-readers or kids just starting to read.

HOP Reading Exhibition
All in all, I will definitely recommend this app to my friends! My son used this and I checked it out with my iPhone 6, so that’s the platform my review came from.

Obsessed with Phonics Age Range
According to Hooked on Phonics, “If your child is between the ages of 3 and 8 and is reading below the third grade level, he should be ready to use the program to get ahead in his studies or improve his reading skills. .

Based on my use of the app, this assessment seems to be correct. Because children develop at different rates at different ages, they can adjust to the program level that works best for them based on their location.

Hooked on Phonics – Fit for Pre K?
Of course! If pre-readers still need these skills before diving in, the Reading Showcase area in the app is a great way to introduce letters and letter sounds.

The Level 1 workbook/DVD set is perfect for 3-4 year olds who are in the pre-reading stage and are in the early emergency stages of reading. So this age group is also great for applications or workbooks.

Get hooked on Pinyin – used by kindergarten students
Hooked on Phonics sets range from Pre-K to 2nd grade reading levels. Any child in kindergarten will definitely benefit from this program.

I would say that the perfect target age for this app is kindergarten, so if you have a kindergarten-aged child, you might want to consider this app for them!

Hooked on Phonics for adults
There’s no reason the Hooked on Phonics program shouldn’t be for adults who have dyslexia or who want to become more proficient readers.

An adult who wants to use the program can take advantage of the 30-day Hooked On Phonics trial to determine where he or she fits in the program, and then purchase the appropriate level.

While the graphics and songs are designed to grab a child’s attention, it’s definitely fun for any adult and provides the basics of reading that anyone might lack in order to be a good reader.

Finally hooked on Phonics App Review
As a kid, I remember using Hooked on Phonics both in the classroom and at home. Today, I am definitely what you would call a bookworm with a huge love and passion for reading and books.

Today, Hooked on Phonics is sticking to the basics that kids really need to learn phonics to be the best readers. Despite different trends in the way we teach our children to read, we always fall back to phonics.

Hooked on Phonics offers a solution to teach kids those basic reading blocks. I’m so glad I was able to use this app with my son to give him a much-needed review, I know it’s very helpful for other kids to start their book reading journey!
